Professional profile: Lourdes Casanova, a Lecturer in the Strategy Department at INSEAD, specializes in international business with a focus on Latin America and multinationals from emerging markets. A Fulbright Scholar during 1987-1989, she has a Masters degree from the University of Southern California and a PhD from the University of Barcelona. She has taught at INSEAD since 1989, was a visiting professor at the University of California at Berkeley from 1996 – 1999. She is a visiting Faculty at the University of Zurich, Deusto Business School and Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona and a consultant of the Inter-American Development Bank. She has taught and directed executive programs at INSEAD since 1999 for senior managers from global multinationals including Telefónica, BBVA and Cemex. She has also been a consultant of multi-nationals operating in Latin America.She has published case studies and articles in journals including International Journal of Human Resource Management (2005), Business and Politics (2004) and Foreign Affairs en español (2002 and 2010) and the author of the book: ‘Global Latinas: Latin America’s emerging multinationals’ published by Palgrave Macmillan in 2009. She is responsible at NSEAD of the Goldman Sachs 10,000 women initiative and is co-leading the InnovaLatino research project.
She is a member of the Global Agenda Council of the World Economic Forum on the future of Mobile Telecommunications and a fellow of the Euro Asia Centre of Comparative Management at INSEAD.
