Professional sailor for many years engaged with Luna Rossa in the role of helmsman for the Americas Cup challenge. Recognized as one of the most multifaceted athletes in the world in the sport of sailing, he participated for Italy in 3 Olympics in 3 Olympic different classes, and then dedicated himself to many other disciplines.
He was leader of the Match Race world ranking, 8-time World Champion in different classes, many times European and Italian champion, he won the last Prada Cup in 2021 at the helm of Luna Rossa, and then challenged Team New Zealand in the 2021 America’s Cup final. He is the only Italian to have won a regatta at the helm during the America’s Cup.
He participated in 6 America’s Cup campaigns, 5 of which with Luna Rossa and one with the Swedish Artemis Racing Team. He covered various roles such as strategist, tactician and helmsman.
He is currently part of the Luna Rossa team for the next challenge at the 2024 America’s Cup with the role of helmsman.
