Captain of the Italian Billie Jean King Cup Team, Tathiana Garbin is one of the most influential figures in Italian tennis, thanks to her extensive experience as both a player and a coach.
Her collaboration with the Italian Tennis and Padel Federation began in 2011, marking the start of a professional journey that led her to guide Italy’s most promising talents to prestigious achievements. In 2012 and 2013, she led the Under-16 and Under-18 teams to victory in the European Championships, nurturing players like Jasmine Paolini and Martina Trevisan, with whom she continued to work in subsequent years.
In 2016, she was appointed Captain of the Federation Cup team, successfully keeping the team in Group II and achieving significant milestones, such as promotion to the World Group in 2021 and a historic victory against France in 2022. These accomplishments paved the way for Italy’s first-ever Billie Jean King Cup Final, culminating in 2024 with the team’s victory and the gold medal at the Paris Olympics, the first Olympic gold in Italian tennis history.
Her commitment extends beyond the court. As a mentor for the BNL Young Talent Project, Tathiana supports and inspires the next generation, sharing the values of sportsmanship, resilience, and teamwork.
Tathiana has received numerous accolades, including the Golden Star for Sporting Merit awarded by the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI) and the prestigious “Golden Racket” award for her extraordinary contribution to Italian tennis.
