Bruno Frère is Senior Research Associate at the Fonds National de la Recherche Scientifique and Professor at the University of Liege (Belgium) and Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne.
He received his PhD from the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales and has published on a variety of topics: political sociology, political philosophy, social theory, economical sociology and history of social sciences. He previously published a monograph about the theoretical and political history of social movements and alternative economy in France (2009, Le nouvel esprit solidaire, Paris, Desclée De Brouwer), a book (with M. Jacquemain) about the main sociological theories in the second half of the 20th century (2008, Epistémologie de la sociologie, paradigmes pour le 21e siècle, Bruxelles, De Boeck) and a book about new social movements (2013, Résister au quotidien , Presses de SciencesPo, paris, with Marc Jacquemain).
His recent work is turning its interest towards sociology and critical theory: Le tournant de la théorie critique (2015 Paris, Desclée de Brouwer, with contributions from N. Fraser, L. Boltanski, A. Honneth) and Repenser l’émancipation, to be published in 2020, with Jean-Louis Laville)
