Roger Ballentine is president of the Green Strategies Inc., company which provides strategic management consulting on corporate sustainability practices and strategies to Fortune 100 companies, energy and environmental service providers, and early stage technology companies on clean technology and energy market drivers, including rapidly evolving public policies and business-relevant stakeholder actions.
Green Strategies Inc. develops public policy, business development and capital formation strategies for corporate clients, advises investors and financial institutions on clean technology market developments and assist with deal pipeline development and deal evaluation.
Roger Ballentine is also Venture Partner of Arborview Capital LLC. Chevy Chase, MD. From 1999 to 2001 Roger Ballentine was a senior member of the White House staff, serving President Bill Clinton as Chairman of the White House Climate Change Task Force and Deputy Assistant to the President for Environmental Initiatives. Prior to being named Deputy Assistant to the President, Mr. Ballentine was Special Assistant to the President for Legislative Affairs, where he focused on energy and environmental issues.
He was Partner of Patton, Boggs, L.L.P. Washington, a legal practice company specializing in public policy advocacy, election and campaign finance law, congressional rules and procedures, non-profit law, and congressional investigations. It provided strategic and political consulting to non-profit and for-profit clients.
Mr. Ballentine was Senior Advisor for Energy and Environmental Policy for the John Kerry for President/Kerry-Edwards campaign.
He developed policy positions and advised Campaign on policy matters. Served as surrogate and media spokesperson for Campaign on energy and environmental issues. From 1997 to 1998 Roger Ballentine served as outside counsel to Democratic leadership for handling of election challenge for the Special Counsel of the U.S. House of Representatives, Washington, D.C. Mr Ballentine is Visiting Professor at the Harvard Law School, teaching a course on energy and climate change. (2008).
From 2003 until now he is Senior Fellow of the Progressive Policy Institute. The Institute develops energy and environmental policy proposals and opinion pieces at think tanks aligned with the centrist wing of the Democratic Party.
From 1993 to 1995 Mr. Ballentine was Adjunct Professor of Law at the Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C, where he taught a course on the law of the political process, including voting rights, political speech, campaign finance and the legislative process.Moreover, he was guest lecturer at various universities, including The Kennedy School of Government, the Yale School of Forestry, The University of Florida School of Law, and the George Washington University School of Business.
He serves on the Board of Directors of Environmental Power Corporation (NASDQ:EPG), Perillon Software Inc., Daylight Technology, Inc. and China Energy Recovery Inc. (OTCBB: CGYV) and on the Advisory Boards of Stratos Renewables Corporation and Pure Biofuels Corporation.
Roger was a founding Board Member of the American Council on Renewable Energy, and serves on the Boards of the Biomass Energy Resource Center and the International Fund for China’s Environment. In 2009, Mr. Ballentine joined the International Advisory Council of the Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory.
