Josefa Idem
Olympian, psychologist
coach and business trainer
Josefa Idem, born in Germany, began her canoe-sporting career in 1976 in Hamm, Westphalia, and ended it at the age of 48 at the London Olympic Games.
She is an Olympian, five-time world champion, nine-time European champion, and participated in eight Olympic editions (from 1984 to 2012).
From 2001 to 2007, she served as the Sports Councillor in the city of Ravenna and was a Senator of the Republic from 2013 to 2018.
She is registered in the Order of Psychologists and specializes in sports, work, and organizational psychology. She is also an expert consultant in Career Guidance and Orientation processes.
Since 2018, she is working with the Psychological Area of the Youth and School Sector of the Italian Football Federation, where she coordinates internal training for sector collaborators.
In her work as a trainer, she covers the full range of soft skills, accompanying and facilitating change processes both at the corporate and individual levels.
She has written two autobiographies, Controcorrente, (Against the tide), published by Sperling & Kupfer in 2006, and Partiamo dalla fine, (Let’s start from the end), published by Mondadori in 2013.
She was awarded the title of Commendatore of the Republic in 2000 and the title of Grand’Ufficiale of the Republic in 2008.
