Bruno Lepri
Bruno Kessler Foundation, Trento, Italy
Research Affiliate, MIT Media Lab, Boston, USA
His research interests include social physics and computational social science, big data and personal data, pervasive and ubiquitous computing and artificial intellingence. In particular, he is currently working on using mobile phone data, social media, and open data to deal with several societal challenges such as crime levels, energy consumption and spreading of epidemics. He is also working to develop new user-centric approaches to personal data management and to investigate the monetization of personal data.
Bruno Lepri leads the Mobile and Social Computing Lab (MobS Lab) at Bruno Kessler Foundation (Trento, Italy).
The main goal of MobS Lab is to build computational approaches to human behavior understanding using the newly ubiquitous digital data that are becoming available about all aspects of human life.
Bruno is also research affiliate at the MIT Media Lab working with the Human Dynamics group and the MIT Connection Science initiative, where he is one of the researchers contributing to Social Physics.
He is also senior research affiliate of Data-pop Alliance, the first think the first think-tank on Big Data and Development co-created by the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative, MIT Media Lab, Overseas Development Institute, and Flowminder to promote a people-centered Big Data revolution. Moreover, he is responsible for the research tasks definition of the Mobile Territorial Lab, a living lab launched in November 2012 by Telecom Italia, FBK, MIT Media Lab, and Telefonica involving more than 100 families in Trento.
In 2013, he co-organized the Telecom Italia Big Data Challenge.
In 2010 he won a Marie Curie Cofund post-doc fellow and he has held post-doc positions at FBK and at MIT Media Lab.
He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Trento.
